Job Type: Part-time Pastor (24 hours/week)

 

Job Description: We are seeking a relational pastor who embraces our community of Jesus-followers and engages in the messiness of life with grace, lovingkindness, and truth, as Jesus did.

Responsibilities:

Worship

Lead The Neighborhood Church in its worship of the Lord:

•  Oversee Sunday morning worship, including preaching, liturgy, congregational prayer, administering weekly communion, and other sacraments as needed

•  Preach three Sundays/month on average and schedule other preachers to include pastoral interns, church members, and guests

•  Prepare and lead special services of worship such as Christmas Eve, Lenten services, weddings, and funerals

Develop/Support

Lead and support The Neighborhood Church:

•  Implement and communicate vision as discerned collaboratively with Session

•  Mentor and supervise pastoral interns

•  Build and lead staff, elder, and lay leadership teams

•  Oversee church ministries, including children’s, small groups, care team, Bible classes, and missions

•  Effectively communicate and collaborate with the Session, staff, and congregation

•  Moderate monthly or twice monthly Session meetings

•  Ensure basic administrative oversight of core functions of the church, including financial oversight, staff HR functions, IT, and communications

•  Represent The Neighborhood Church at Presbytery and other denominational bodies

 

Community

•  Shepherd: Provide spiritual guidance and congregational care

•  Grow: Grow the church’s connection to Christ, its presence within the community, and the church community itself

•  Missional: Encourage missional living and empower the people of TNC to pursue it

•  Mission: Seek local and global mission opportunities and connect TNC to them

•  Ecumenical: Collaborate with other local churches, organizations, and communities

 

Qualifications:

•  Love of Jesus and his Bride

•  Servant leader

•  Master of Divinity or comparable degree from an accredited seminary

•  Ordained or ordainable in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC)

•  5+ years leadership experience in a church or other ministry setting

•  2+ years demonstrated regular preaching experience

•  Ability to work collaboratively with church leaders and volunteers to achieve shared goals

 

Compensation:

$40,000-$50,000/year

2 Weeks study leave / 4 weeks Vacation
