Student Ministry Director at The Living Room Community Church
Kennewick, WA 99337
About the job
What we are looking for:
We are seeking a Student Ministry Director (grades 6-12) who can dream with us to envision and develop a comprehensive ministry to reach and serve students in our community and their families. The ministry that we develop will be a key part of the Living Room’s mission to “Love God, Love Others, and Serve the World.”
We desire a person who is a big-picture thinker, a proven equipper, and who can conceptualize putting our campus to use to serve students in the community for the sake of the kingdom.
We are busy preparing our campus with this position and ministry in mind. We currently have a dedicated student ministry space, a Café, and outdoor facilities that are all being upgraded. Proposed upgrades include basketball, volleyball, and pickleball courts as well as a covered seating area, fire pit, and outdoor grill in the patio area. The Student Center will offer ping-pong, a pool table, video games, foosball, air hockey, a sound system and flat screen TVs.
What you will do:
You will create inviting environments where students and their families are known and loved, and are invited to build friendships and trust with other teens and with adult mentors/volunteers.
You will equip adult volunteers to do the work of ministry.
You will oversee/lead weekly gatherings for both middle school and high school groups which include dynamic teaching, small group interactions, music, and are fun.
You will collaboratively shape and lead adventure programs that will create safe spaces for trained adult mentors to speak into students. (The Tri-Cities gets 300 days of sunshine a year and offers ready access to experiences like kayaking, hiking, camping, mountain climbing, dirt biking and snow sports.)
You will become a student of the local culture and then envision ways our campus can be utilized to serve local students and their families.
You will help students serve the marginalized through serving opportunities in the church and by partnering with established community organizations and public schools. You will also have the opportunity to plug into our partnership with Eden’s Child (a child sponsorship program) in Rwanda by going on and leading mission trips.
What you bring:
You have demonstratable experience (3-5 years) in the development and implementation of student ministry that serves the church family and the community.
You have the ability to oversee and develop long term, big-picture ministry plans including timelines for implementation.
You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
You are a dynamic communicator and are equally comfortable with public speaking and writing.
You are comfortable with technology and know your way around the Microsoft suite of programs.
You are able to engage existing ministry teams, helping them integrate with student ministry programs.
You are excited about the vision and mission of The Living Room Community Church.
Bonus points if you are bilingual (Spanish).
What we have to offer:
Starting salary range of $54,000-$60,000 (D.O.E.)
Employer provided health insurance for employee + generous HRA health account.
Generous PTO package.
Ongoing leadership and staff development.
Casual work environment with flexible schedule.
A location directly across the street from a middle school with 700 students.
About The Living Room:
TLR is a non-denominational church located in the Tri-Cities of Washington State. We exist to “Love God, Love Others, and Serve the World,” and we help people take the next step in living and loving like Jesus. We are a come as you are culture and don’t act like a typical church. We believe it’s about real people, sharing life together, asking real questions, seeking a real God who loves and cares about us and has a plan and purpose for our lives.
We currently serve about 50 students in student ministries, offering Sunday morning teaching, as well as mid-week gatherings for both High School and Middle School. We have lots of fun, serve the marginalized, and are offering our first High School Missions trip to Rwanda this summer.
