Senior Pastor at The First Chinese Church of Christ in Hawaii
Honolulu, Hawaii 96814
About the job
The First Chinese Church looks forward to entering a new phase of ministry, mission, worship and witness prepared to embrace new ideas in ministry with our English and Mandarin-speaking congregants. We seek a pastor of strong faith who will be engaged in the many vital ministries of our church and lead us in new directions. We desire a pastor to guide our spiritual growth and help us reach out to our neighbors to invite and welcome them to grow with us. We are looking for a minister who will fill us spiritually and inspire us while doing God's work, keeping our roots deep in Christ and helping us to be stronger in our faith. Our prayer is that our next settled pastor will be an effective organizer who can develop programs/events that can be supportive of each member and their spiritual needs. One who learns both from God and those he/she is called to minister. We are a faithful team of God-fearing members that includes persons of all generations. A cooperative team of God-loving members. A joyful team of God-seeking attendees. A social, spiritual & physical environment to attract & encourage young people and families to become actively involved in fellowship and ministries. We ask that you pray, asking God if you are the inspiring, dynamic minister who will embrace and grow our ministry with us and who will lead us to new heights in our journey of faith.
Our congregation is taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our participants, pastors and staff including social distancing and mandatory masking. Because of the surge in cases due to the Omicron variant, we have temporarily ceased in-person activities and worship as of January 2022. Instead, we are worshipping each Sunday at 8:45am (Mandarin) and 10:30am (English) online at firstchines.org.
Note: Ordination is not a prerequisite for the position but if the candidate is not ordained, the position requires that they seek and successfully acquire ordination from the United Church of Christ.
