Summary

The St. Andrew’s Leadership Institute (SALI) is a nine-month living and learning community for recent post-grads, designed to broaden their understanding of and deepen their connection to God’s redemptive work.

 

In partnership with the SALI Leadership Team, the SALI Director is responsible to provide leadership and direction for the operational mission and programs of the St. Andrew’s Leadership Institute. The director will be responsible for leading the residential experience while simultaneously working to execute a vision for the program’s future development.  The St. Andrew’s Leadership Institute currently focuses on young adults, but we hope to expand the Institute’s offerings out to the local community of all ages.

 

Under the direction of the Pastor/Head of Staff the SALI Director participates in leadership and support of the vision and mission of St. Andrew’s and works in partnership with every St. Andrew’s ministry department.  The Head of Staff may assign additional duties and responsibilities on a temporary or regular basis, such as participation in worship services, teaching and pastoral care. Maintains a lifestyle consistent with the Scriptures and essential tenets of St. Andrew’s and ECO.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and Manage overall program
    • Recruiting/Admissions:
      • Oversees recruitment strategy
        • Builds relationships with campus ministers and college students
        • Travels regularly to increase awareness of the program across college campuses
      • Oversee admissions process for applicants, facilitating interviews and making placements
    • Network Management
      • Recruit interested employers and host families
      • Provide training for employers (including church staff who supervise an associate) and host families
      • Maintain relationships with employers and host families, and mediate relationship to Associates
    • Weekly Classes
      • Personalize curriculum for the year around the topics of: theological education, leadership theory, and spiritual formation.
      • Teach weekly training opportunities and hire in guest speakers
    • Serve Component
      • Build a relationship with partner organizations and oversee required weekly serve opportunities for associates
      • Currently KidWorks, Whittier Elementary
    • Other
      • Oversees and ensures mentoring and pastoral care for Associates
      • Manages other programmatic activities for Associates
        • Weekly team dinners hosted by members of the congregation
        • Fall, winter, and spring retreats
        • Partner with Serve team for spring trip
      • Future Development
        • Build a strategy to expand the Leadership Institute beyond the residential model
        • Design a formational discipleship program to offer to the local community
      • SALI Leadership Team
        • Meet regularly with Chair and Leadership Team
        • Organize SALI Advisory Board lay leaders into effective roles on the leadership team (categories involved: housing placements, professional placements, fundraising, hospitality, curriculum, administration, etc.)
        • Involve Leadership Team in strategy, planning and implementation of SALI program
        • Informing, training, supporting, recruiting and nurturing Leadership Team members
        • Integrating Leadership Team members into meaningful relationships with Associates
      • Finance
        • Active strategy and implementation of SALI development and fund-raising for a budget of about $150k/year.
        • Maintains SALI budget management in partnership with St. Andrew’s finance team
      • Networking constituencies
        • Maintains relationship with The Fellows Initiative
        • Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with ECO, universities and seminaries, local businesses and hosts
        • Initiates partnerships across St. Andrew’s’ departments, staff, leaders and congregants

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Must be an active member of a Christian Church
  • High capacity for relational engagement
  • Excellent Management Skills
  • Ability to case a vision and mobilize around its execution
  • Good communication skills, in speaking and in writing
  • Ability to oversee and teach a comprehensive spiritual/leadership development curriculum
  • Experience in leadership of similar young professionals

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required.
Seminary graduate or biblical education preferred
