About the job
The Senior Pastor of South Park Church will be a godly leader, teacher, and shepherd who will build up the congregation in becoming mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Eph. 4:11-16). The Pastor will facilitate the implementation of mission and vision, provide transformational preaching and teaching, and ensure care for the congregation at various levels. This will be done in collaboration with the Elders, staff, and other leaders of the congregation.
? Provide motivational and practical leadership that keeps South Park Church aligned with the vision and mission.
? Provide direction for the staff, elders, and trustees in translating the vision and mission into annual strategic goals.
? Engage the congregation in transformation of thought, feelings, and behaviors through biblical preaching and teaching.
? Prioritize personal Bible study, prayer, and awareness of current issues so that a bridge is built between the biblical and modern worlds.
? Recruit, train, and coordinate staff and guests for variety in preaching.
? Teach in various settings throughout the church, as opportunity and time allow.
? Attend to the discipleship needs of the staff and elected leadership of the church.
? Ensure the shepherding needs of the congregation are met through elders, staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and personal involvement.
? Officiate at special services including dedications, baptisms, weddings, funerals and other milestone events, as time allows.
? Elders: Serve as a member of the Elders, partnering to ensure the spiritual health of the church.
? Leadership Team
? Collaborate with the Leadership Team to develop a compelling vision consistent with the mission of South Park Church, that is articulated clearly and repeatedly.
? Collaborate with the Leadership Team in overseeing ministry decisions and direction.
? Executive Pastor: partner with the Executive Pastor to set policies, procedures, direction, and development of ministry.
? Provide guidance, support and encouragement.
? Collaborate with worship, creative arts, and tech ministries to plan services and series in advance.
? Other working relationships: Coach, encourage, and shepherd ministry directors, as needed.
