Associate Pastor/Director of Family Life at Sandia Presbyterian Church
Albuquerque, NM 87122

Advance family life at Sandia Presbyterian Church (SPC) under our vision statement of “Sandia Presbyterian Church is a multigenerational congregation through whom families and individuals are being transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ”. This includes teaching, developing, and assisting in supervising family life programs for all ages, but focused on children, youth, and young adults.
Coordinates with: Pastors, lay staff, congregants, potential congregants, volunteers, parents

An Associate Pastor for Family Life (or Director if not ordained) serves both the corporate family and individual families, and influences the outreach of SPC through Group Life sponsored activities. From Sunday school classrooms to preaching from the pulpit, a pastor will find themselves in a variety of settings during the course of a week. An active community supporting group life at SPC has bridged the gap during our search process and stands ready to welcome and assist our new Pastor for Family Life. An Associate who is an engaged and energetic encourager will strengthen the existing groups and ministries and will also join us in creating new opportunities for Bible study, outreach, and fellowship. This is best accomplished through relationships with members and visitors. They should be ready to lead, love, and have fun with the members of the church.

A successful candidate should be outgoing, energetic, and organized. They will be relying upon their abilities to foster genuine connections with SPC families.

A newly-minted pastor in this role must be willing to lead others to the foot of the cross.  A leading characteristic is spiritual depth - helping to drive courageous conversations when needed. A passion for helping others find their way to a deeper, more meaningful relationship with Christ is essential. SPC is supportive of, and insistent on, exploring ongoing learning opportunities for its leadership.  A pastor should be excited to grow into higher educational and spiritual goals with the understanding that it will help bless others at SPC and beyond.

We are looking for someone who will help to engage newcomers immediately, as well as search existing church relationships to find members with the time and talents to contribute to our growing base of ministries.  This pastor will need to be prepared for the challenge of reengaging with families who may have disengaged in 2020-21.

The Associate will work closely with the Associate Pastor, Christian Education, to develop and grow SPC’s ministry to children, youth and young adults to include marriage and parenting issues.

He/she will seek out and engage visitors.

He/she will disciple visitors and members through pastoral care.

The Associate will work with the Group Life Team and other church leadership to:

Develop and grow vibrant small groups to enhance relationships within the SPC community.
Equip and help members find places to serve and grow through identifying and developing their spiritual gifts.
Develop and lead programs intended to reach out to young professionals (singles/married without children).
Assist with coordinating large group gatherings (e.g. Wednesday Fellowship, Young Dad’s ministry, women’s events).
Coordinate with youth and young adult leadership, provide oversight and support in mission outreach opportunities.

We offer both virtual and in-person worship opportunities.  During indoor worship services and classes, participants are required to wear masks.  Staff members also wear masks during the work day.

Additional cleaning measures have been implemented throughout our facilities to ensure that frequently touched surfaces are disinfected regularly.
