Young Adult and Student Ministry Position

We offer a challenge and an opportunity for ministry to a community undergoing transition. Our body of Christ followers have in recent years taken strides to be more intentional with focus on our Mission field and its peoples’ needs. Utilizing new ministries, over 13,000 lives and 4,500 households, but we have only begun to actually reach the souls around us.
RiverStone Church is an orthodox conservative congregation in the Wesleyan / early Methodist tradition. Our search is for an individual of Christ-like maturity who has been discipled and has evidence of the fruit of the Spirit. This leader will lead our outreach to and ministry with young adults and students in our neighboring community. Emphasis will be on evangelism and discipleship with Jesus as a way of life. Additionally, it is also our hope to hire someone who has musical gifts, especially guitar, for various settings including worship. Candidates need to be prepared to make a commitment to remain in this ministry setting to create a community of depth, sustainability, and continuity. Those looking for short-term springboard will not find this position to be conducive to that career path.
This is a full-time, exempt position has some benefits, including assistance with housing allowance and health insurance. Initial compensation is projected to be in a range of $35,000 – 45,000, depending on experience and promise for ministry.
RiverStone Church is in ministry in Farmington, NM, a city of approximately 45,000 in a county 105,000 in the county. Our mission field is approximately one-third Indigenous Peoples (Mostly Navajo with some Ute and Hopi), one-third Caucasian, and 25% Hispanic. Average age is 36. San Juan is New Mexico’s third largest institution of higher learning.
Situated in the Animas and San Juan River Valleys at 5,300 feet elevation, Farmington enjoys over 300 days of sunshine with warm summers and mostly cool winters. We are the Four Corners regional center for healthcare, the arts, and amenities. Surrounding areas include outdoor recreation for every season: San Juan and Uncompaghre Mountain ranges with hiking, camping, and skiing (Purgatory, Telluride, and Wolf Creek); Navajo Reservoir for water skiing and fishing with world class fly fishing at the Quality Waters on the San Juan; geographical, archaeological, and cultural sites (Bisti Wilderness, Land of the Ancients, Chaco Canyon, Monument Valley, Arches, Zion, and Grand Canyon National Parks).
