About the job
It is our mission to provide free quality daycare to low-income single parents in Houston. We are a Christian, non-profit organization. Our goal is to start our program by Spring 2021. We are looking for a Christ-centered Child care director/teacher to work in tandem with a child care teacher. Each will work about 30 hours/week. The child care director will have caregiving responsibilities as well as administrative duties. The shifts are 6:45 am-12:30 pm and 12:30 pm to 6:15 pm. We aim to have 10 children in the program.
The Childcare director should ideally have a Bachelor's degree with at least 12 hours of college credits in child development/education and 3 hours of management. However, they can have an Associate's degree, Child Development associate or child care administrator's credentialing with child development/education and management credits. In addition, at least 1-2 years of experience at a licensed child care center or home would be desired.
Please see page 35 of https://hhs.texas.gov/sites/default/files/documents/doing-business-with-hhs/provider-portal/protective-services/ccl/min-standards/chapter-746-centers.pdf for qualifications.
We have competitive compensation.
Our location will be 2220 Mckee Street 77009 which is a childcare desert among a high population of single parents.
Our model is a Single Parent Cooperative. Two qualified part-time caregivers each will work a morning or afternoon shift alongside the parent volunteers. These teachers will not only be caring for children ages 6 weeks-3 years of age, but mentoring the parent volunteers as well. Director and teacher will be in charge of making the daily schedule and lesson plans for the various ages.
