Chaplain- CPE Intern at PIH Health
Downey, CA
About the job
Clinical Pastoral Education is an interfaith, professional education program, which brings people into a supervised setting where they encounter people in need of care. Through extensive and intensive engagement with people in crisis, and reflection with peers and teachers, chaplain interns develop awareness of how their personhood influences the care they provide. Chaplain interns develop relational skills of spiritual assessment and the appropriate interventions that help them address the hopes, needs and resources of people in their care.
This Fall, our super-extended CPE internship goes from Sept 6, 2022 – June 9, 2023. Super Extended unit interns participate in an intensive orientation and then meet for class for roughly half a day every other week. They will need to complete approximately 8 hours of patient care each week of the internship. The intern will negotiate their weekly clinical schedule with the CPE Certified Educator and Lead Chaplain to include week and weekend days. Graduates of this internship will receive one unit of ACPE accredited CPE.
Overnight on-calls are not required.
CPE Interns are not required to visit COVID+ patients. All interns will be trained in how to appropriately wear PPE for their safety and the safety of our patients.
