Resident Overview
The High School Ministry Resident (HS Resident) will work closely with the High School Pastor (HS Pastor) to learn and seek God’s direction for ministering to high school students in Palo Alto and the surrounding areas. The HS Resident will report directly to the HS Pastor and will assist in planning and leading youth group activities. The HS Resident position also requires participation in our Leadership Institute which includes a few hours of ministry training a week (within the 29 hours per week) and has the possibility of including housing. This position is a two-year term of employment.
Responsibilities
Provide regular, focused communication to students, parents, and leaders consistent with other communication practices at PBC.
Help plan, coordinate, and manage registrations for events and trips, including:
Monthly Special events, Winter & Summer Camp (Hume Lake), Special Events
Attend weekly youth ministry team meetings
Attend and assist with volunteer leadership training and “check-ins”
Help lead, coordinate, and conduct digital and in-person HS ministry meetings including:
Schedule teachers & worship leaders as necessary
Lead/co-lead a small group Bible study for HS students
As requested, host, lead games, and teach at HS ministry meetings and understand all aspects of the schedule/agenda
Purchase (to be reimbursed) and pick up necessary resources for programming and/or events
Mentor and teach biblical truths to students in both formal and informal settings
Build intentional relationships with high school students at their homes, school events, and other informal situations
Manage ministry social media accounts including:Weekly Devos
Midweek and Sunday reminders
Event highlight posts
Occasional lifting of 20 pounds required for events and set up
Job Qualifications
Growing and vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
A passion for investing in and walking along-side high school students to show them the love of Christ
Ongoing dependence on the Holy Spirit to direct and modify ministry plans, areas of emphasis, and responses to student/family needs and requests
Experience working with middle school or high school students
Good administrative and organizational skills
Additional Desired Skills/Proficiencies
Basic photo/image editing (Canva and/or Photoshop)
Basic video editing
Proficiency in Google Suites (Slides, Sheets, Docs, Cal, Etc.)
Rate of Pay & Hours
Hours: Part-Time (29 Hours/Week)
Compensation: $2,000 stipend/month plus a potential option for housing consistent with all applicable laws
Hire Date: January 2023
Term
This position is for a two-year term of at-will employment with PBC.
At-Will Employment
This position constitutes at-will employment, meaning that either PBC or the employee may separate the employment consistent with all applicable laws.
