The OCM Canaan Church of Princeton (the Church) Internship Program for the English Ministry is designed to offer the intern firsthand ministry experience, and the opportunity for active partnership in growing the youth and young adult ministry. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, adaptable, and ready to take on various tasks that support our church's mission. The position is a full-time, however part part-time arrangement will be considered. This internship is ideal for an individual who is seeking purpose and application in a church ministry, who has enrolled in a Master of Divinity (or higher) degree program, and who has the aspiration for a pastoral role in the future.  The intern will periodically meet with our church pastor for one-on-one coaching to determine development goals.  To broaden the intern’s experience, the individual will be given the opportunity to preach to the larger Chinese Ministry congregation. To save intern’s living expenses, free furnished housing will be provided if needed.  This internship provides an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth within a supportive environment. Church Description

OCM Canaan Church of Princeton is one of the eight sister churches of Oversea Chinese Mission (OCM) serving the New York and New Jersey areas.  It is a non-denominational community church with a Chinese ministry and an English ministry serving the Greater Princeton area of New Jersey.  Our church has 100+ members, mostly from multi-generation Chinese/English-speaking families. Most congregants are in the Chinese Ministry. Our English Ministry comprises around 15-20 individuals, mostly adults. Our mission is to introduce Jesus Christ to our community through worship, discipleship, teaching, and counseling. We have an aspiration to grow the youth ministry.

Candidate Qualifications/Requirements

The candidate shall be a mature Christian, enrolling in a seminary program toward a Master of Divinity (or higher) degree in an accredited program.
Good leadership and communication skills.
Superior interpersonal skills
The successful candidate is expected to live within a 30-minute driving distance from OCM Canaan Church. Furnished housing will be provided if needed.

Intern Duties and Responsibilities

The intern is responsible mainly for

·         preaching God’s Word on Sunday (3 times per month for full time; 1-2 for part time)

·         teaching Bible-based Sunday school on the same day that he/she preaches

·         overseeing fellowship/bible study activities

·         overseeing Children’s Ministry

·         evangelism and community outreach

The intern will be working under the supervision of the ministry pastoral staff and closely with our deacon board to disciple and mentor our English congregation.

Both furnished housing and utilities will be provided if needed.
