New City is a gospel-centered, multi-ethnic and multi-generational church committed to disciple-making, evangelism, justice, and church planting. Director of Community Life 

Position Description | Full-Time

Position Overview

 

New City is actively seeking to hire a director of Community Life. This full-time position will focus on the community and discipleship goals achieved through Sunday services and weekly City Group gatherings.

 

Reporting Structure

The Director of Community Life reports to the Lead Pastor.

Responsibilities

Oversee Sunday Guest Experience at New City
-Oversee the overall guest experiences at New City, developing strategies and initiatives to improve the experience for everyone.
-Provide leadership to both the set-up and hospitality teams.
-Recruit, train, and equip ministry team members to fulfill the needs of both the set-up and guest experience teams.
-Provide spiritual leadership and guidance to team members serving under the Director of Community Life.

Oversee City Groups
-Develop yearly strategy and goals for the small group ministry at New City.
-Oversee a team of volunteers to develop weekly City Group curriculum that corresponds with Sunday sermon series.
-Regularly assess the health and effectiveness of the small group ministry, making adjustments and improvements as needed.
-Foster a sense of community among small group leaders, organizing regular gatherings, training events, and times of encouragement and fellowship.

Required Qualifications

-Be a stable, mature, and growing Christian with an exemplary personal life.
-Spiritual gifts relevant to organization, management, and leadership.
-Have a sound knowledge of Scripture and an ability to apply Scriptural principles in ministry.
-Have at least 3 years relevant ministry experience.
-Be in agreement with the doctrinal statement and ministry vision of New City Church.                                                                                                                                            -Driven to accomplish specific goals in alignment with the vision and mission of New City.
-Someone who is highly relational and finds joy in building relationships with a diverse congregation and community.

Humble, Hungry, & Smart (borrowed from Patrick Lencioni). This is someone who sacrificially gives themselves to lift others towards flourishing in Jesus without looking for the applause or praise of others. This is someone who is driven to fulfill God’s calling on their life as it aligns with the mission and vision of New City. And someone who works efficiently without needing micromanagement.

Typical Work Week

A typical work week at New City is Sunday-Thursday with occasional gatherings on Saturday. The staff gather either digitally or in person for times of training, vision casting and practical ministry execution. Sunday gatherings start at 2pm and usually wrap up by 7pm. Throughout the week the Community Life Director will be expected to find time for vision planning, administrative responsibilities, and lots of relational time with existing and potential leaders.
