Summary

The Director of Spiritual Life exists to shepherd and strengthen the spiritual formation of the entire school community so that students, faculty, and families increasingly know, love, and follow Jesus Christ. This role ensures that biblical truth is not an add-on, but the integrating center of all teaching, relationships, and culture, shaping both the heart and mind of every student.

Through visionary leadership, relational discipleship, and strategic alignment, this role cultivates a cohesive, Christ-centered culture where spiritual formation is intentional, measurable, and deeply embedded across academics, student life, and community engagement. The Director equips educators to live out their calling as disciple-makers and ensures that the school’s mission is tangibly expressed in daily rhythms, institutional priorities, and long-term strategy.

  • Is a born again Christian and has made a profession of faith of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
  • Believes the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God.
  • Accepts without reservation and lives by the school's Statement of Faith and Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality as a condition of employment and continued employment in this ministry.
  • Manifests by daily example the highest Christian virtue, serving as a Christian role model both in and out of school.
  • Glorifies God by partnering with parents within a Christ-centered community to instill a biblical worldview in students by educating, equipping, and encouraging in faith, excellence, and service.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with NBCA’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include oversight of chapel teams, student leadership groups, spiritual programming volunteers, and other ministry-related initiatives. This role ensures alignment of spiritual development activities with the school’s mission, Statement of Faith, and overall strategic priorities.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in pastoral ministry, student ministry, discipleship, chapel leadership, Christian education, student leadership, or spiritual formation leadership preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead spiritual programming, teach biblical truth, mentor students, and cultivate Christ-centered community within a team-oriented environment.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, parents, faculty, administrators, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of RenWeb Database software; Google Drive Internet software; Excel or Google Sheets Spreadsheet software and Word or Google Docs Word Processing software.
