Millwood Community Presbyterian Church is looking for a Full-Time Youth Director to lead our growing Middle and High School Youth programs. We are a community dedicated to following Jesus together, and the young people of our community are an incredibly important part of who we are. If you would like to be a part of an intergenerational church community with a deep passion for its community (in our case, the town of Millwood), we’d like to meet you!

Our young people come from several different school districts, but our church campus is ¼ mile from West Valley High School, with whom we have a thriving relationship. Many of our community members work with the district in a variety of roles, and we take seriously the call to be a partner working for the common good of all people.

Responsibilities –

Active participant in the life of the congregation.
-       While you will have a specific role in leading our young people, you will be welcomed as a fellow Follower in the larger life of our church. As fits who you are, there are opportunities to lead and participate in all aspects of our shared life.

Sunday Mornings - Sunday School –

-       We need you to prepare engaging and rich activities, lessons, discussions, and experiences for 6th- 1212h graders on Sunday mornings that make faith real and interesting.
-       Invest genuinely and relationally in the students and their parents who come on Sundays, including beyond the walls of MCPC.

Tuesday Nights – Middle School Group gatherings –
-       Facilitate among volunteer leaders the planning of activities, meals, messages, and discussions for each Tuesday night.
-       Communicate effectively with leaders, parents, and students prior to Tuesdays as necessary to remind them of tasks, themes, prayer requests, etc.
-       Prepare an interesting and Christ-centered message or small group discussion guide, or meet individually with the leader who is scheduled to do so.
-       Buy, gather and prepare any materials needed for games, meals, or talk illustrations.
-       Lead pre-meetings with volunteer leaders.

Monday Nights – High School Youth Group gatherings –
-       Facilitate among volunteer leaders the planning of activities, meals, messages, and discussions for each Tuesday night.
-       Communicate effectively with leaders, parents, and students prior to Mondays as necessary to remind them of tasks, themes, prayer requests, etc.
-       Prepare an interesting and Christ-centered message or small group discussion guide or meet individually with the leader who is scheduled to do so.
-       Buy, gather, and prepare any materials needed for games, meals, or talk illustrations.
-       Lead pre-meetings with volunteer leaders.

Leadership Teams and Leadership Development
-       Invests in the whole lives of the Middle / High School volunteer leaders. Encourages leaders towards growth both spiritually and in other aspects of their lives through building trust and relationship.
-       Meet one-on-one with volunteer leaders at least 4 times per program year to hear about their life, their ministry with kids, and give insight and encouragement.
-       A continual plan to recruit, train and equip new leaders for both groups.
-       Two times per year plan a leader retreat for training purposes. Possible for multiple days.

Contact Work/Community Presence
-       Is regularly on campus at middle school and high school spending time with students, building rapport, meeting new students, and serving the school in various capacities.
o   Visiting lunches, watching students’ sports or recitals, etc. or other connecting activities.

Retreats, Camps, Trips
-       Is the lead on administrative, financial, logistical and communication regarding Fall Camps, Summer Camps and Mission Trips, and a potential Spring Retreat.
-       This includes extensive and often personal communication with parents, students, and volunteer leaders leading up to an Overnight of any kind.
-       Help create fund raising opportunities for students to earn funds towards camps and retreats.

Staff Meetings

-       We’d want you to be a regular part of MCPC weekly staff meetings.
