POSITION SUMMARY

Menlo is a multi-site church in the San Francisco Bay area and a member of ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. We are looking for a new Director of People Operations to join our team. Our DoPO will collaborate with the Extended Leadership Team to assess staffing, leadership development, and legal compliance for our church. Will report directly to the Executive Director of Operations, work closely with the hiring managers, and support all ministries and campuses.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manage all aspects of the employee life cycle and succession planning
Analyze data and make recommendations to the ELT for corrective action and continuous improvement across all areas of people operations management
Identify, manage, and support opportunities for management and employee professional development and growth
Oversee performance management activities
Identify and coordinate ongoing training for staff members
Identify departmental training needs, monitor and evaluate the success of training programs
Provide performance management guidance and support to supervisors
Guide management and employee actions by researching, writing, and updating policies and procedures following all applicable laws and regulations
Provide leadership and direction to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment-related laws and regulations
Maintain in-depth knowledge of changing employment practices
Oversee employee events, personal milestones, and appreciation activities
Assess and advance employee engagement and satisfaction
Serve as HR contact for all employees and actively engage to improve working relationships
Provide leadership to all employees to develop, communicate and administer human resource policies and procedures
Exhibit understanding, sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences present in the organization
Develop and administer a consistent and progressive compensation program
Monitor budgets for recruiting, training/staff development, and benefits programs
Maintain and maximize implementation of the HRIS
Maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practices in workforce development and change management
Forecast current and future talent needs
Provide input on department restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration or a related field required; advanced degree in HR, business, public administration, or related field desirable; SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification desired.
Minimum 5 years of HR generalist experience, with extensive exposure to various HR responsibilities
Demonstrated leadership skills, with a minimum of two years of supervisory/personnel management experience
Familiarity with strategic planning, including compensation practices, data analysis, organizational diagnosis and development
Working knowledge of California and federal laws and regulations affecting employer practices and compliance requirements; specific knowledge of requirements for 501(c)(3) religious organizations preferred
Experience in revising or developing new HR policies and procedures
Resourceful and able to find creative solutions
Understanding of best practices and experience in building inclusive and engaged workplaces
Conflict resolution skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to partner effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Strong project management skills, and able to effectively plan, implement and manage HR programs and functions
An understanding of and commitment to Menlo Church’s mission and guiding principles
Work Conditions

Days and hours of work will vary depending on ministry needs
Schedule: Monday through Friday, with evenings or weekends as needed

Salary Range

This position qualifies for pay grade 9: $100,000 - $154,000
