GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Provide leadership for the LCPC Junior High School Ministry as a collaborative member of the youth ministry team by ensuring a relationally-based program that is dynamic and focused on transforming students into Christ-centered disciples.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee and direct ministry to junior high school students.  This includes:

·       Arranging and leading Sunday morning and weekday programs/activities for junior high students

·       Regular Biblical teaching on Sundays and in weekday programs

·       Overseeing retreats, camps, and special activities for junior high students

·       Building meaningful relationships with students across all school campuses

·       Communicating with students and parents through text messages, emails, phone calls and meetings

·       Assist with administrative job demands

·       Form and sustain junior high small groups

·       Recruiting, vetting, and training of student and adult small group leaders

·       Plan and implement service opportunities for junior high students & their families

 

General tasks, including, but not limited to:

·       Being an active member and participant on staff team, giving support and ideas when needed

·       Assisting other youth ministry staff in connecting students to small groups

·       Planning youth ministry wide outreach events and strategies for new student engagement

·       Assist High School staff with high school programs

·       Facilitating the smooth transition of students and small groups from Children’s Ministry to Junior High and Junior High to High School

·       Assisting in completing administrative tasks such as newsletters/calendars, planning, phone calls, reports, etc.

·       As needed, assisting with youth ministry events, retreats, and special activities not explicitly related to Junior High School Ministry

·       Assisting in leading contemporary worship, as invited

·       Attend Pastors and Directors meetings and other LCPC staff meetings

·       Providing transportation support as required (maintain valid insurance and Class C license)

·       Regularly attending youth worship services and all-church gatherings, including All Church Camp

·       Building relationships with members of the LCPC community

·       Seeking nurture for personal spiritual growth by participating in a small group with peers

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMMITMENTS:

·       Commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and a devotion to God

·       Passion for helping students meet and develop a relationship with Jesus

·       Two years of experience in full time youth-related Christian ministry

·       A demonstrated ability to lead worship; ability to play an instrument preferred

·       College graduate with some coursework (either college or graduate level) in youth ministry, theology or related area of study

·       Computer skills and social media competency

·       Ability to be a role model and mentor to students by actions, words, and deeds

·      Safe driving record

·      Fully embrace the mission, vision and values of LCPC

·      Participation in LCPC as primary church commitment

·      General training in abuse prevention
