Communications Director at King's Park International Church

We are seeking an experienced, creative candidate with strategic and leadership gifts to fill a full-time position as our Communications Director. Candidates should be able to lead a team of staff and volunteers to develop, shape and distribute King’s Park messaging to internal (staff and congregation) and external (community) audiences. ideal candidate thinks strategically and has experience leading in a deadline-driven work environment. This role will require a firm understanding of our church’s mission and vision.

To be successful as a Communications Director, candidates should be professional, analytical and skilled in one or more of four key communications categories: copywriting and editing, graphic design, video and social media. They should have project management experience, be solution-oriented and always be looking for ways to expand the reach of the Gospel and King’s Park in the Triangle and beyond. Applicants should understand the overall messaging of King’s Park and how it can be implemented most effectively. Most importantly, Communications Director should bring a customer-service mindset to partnering with King’s Park staff and volunteer leadership to propel the mission forward.


We don’t expect this person to do the work of all church communications, but to ensure those on the Communications Team do it properly.



Manage a team of staff, freelance and volunteer content creators and content managers (digital, print, web, video, social media, etc.) in a manner that aligns various communications venues.
Recruit and train new volunteers to engage with this team.
Provide ongoing training opportunities for staff and volunteer team members.
Create and implement a system of quality control for church communications, serving as the church’s Brand Manager, safeguarding how the church’s brand is portrayed in all communications. Use the King’s Park Brand Book to guide ministries and staff toward consistent presentation of content.
Develop the church’s marketing and communications plan to engage new people into our communications channels, deepen their involvement and strategically bring them into the life of the church.
Work with the church’s facilities staff to ensure all signage throughout the campus communicates effectively within the brand framework.
Collaborate with various ministries to create and maintain a written churchwide social media strategy (within the church’s overall communications strategy) that supports the church’s ministry goals.
Coordinate and oversee the church’s social media platforms in a Christ-like manner that actively engages the community by responding to comments, questions and concerns in a timely banner, consistent with the Brand framework and social media strategic plan guidelines.


Job Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in related field, or equivalent experience
Prior experience in a Communications field and in project management with a variety of projects simultaneously
Effective oral and written communications skills, ability to clearly express thoughts to others and exchange information.
Attention to detail
Desire to be proactive and reach outsiders with the Gospel.


You may also have:

Working knowledge regarding Adobe Creative Suite, email applications
Working knowledge of WordPress CMS and WP theme development
Working knowledge of web based design software, such as Canva, PicMonkey and Adobe Spark
Knowledge regarding various social media channels



40+ hours per week; Sunday through Thursday business hours are key
