This role is for an internship program at IOLA church in Echo Park. Our goal is to help people develop in ministry and leadership while being able to learn in a safe environment.

 

We recognize that since this is an unpaid internship, that will deter people and we are sorry to currently be unable to pay. However, we hope for those who are able to make this commitment that it will be a blessing to you nonetheless.

 

Our goal is to develop people professionally, spiritually, and in their leadership. We are seeking a 6 month commitment to the internship.

Leadership Development 

• Weekly leadership lessons
• Teachings by ministry directors and lead pastor
• Book reading and discussion
• Trainings for personal development
• Opportunities to lead while receiving coaching and feedback

Spiritual Development

• Serve the local church in the ministry various areas
• 1:1 Spiritual mentoring and relationships
• Attend weekly worship services

Professional Development

• Meet weekly with a pastor
• Learn how to implement the vision of IOLA: Love God. Love People. Serve Compassionately.
• Gain exposure to the real life ministry in an urban setting
• Learn and practice skills related to specific ministry
• Participate in planning and executing tasks, teams, or events
• Attend staff meetings
• Build a marketable skill set with experience and develop a resume
• Build relationships with congregants, pastors, and leaders which will expand your network

Responsibilities

• Help oversee the ministry of the church in: Social Media, Tech, Worship, Youth, Children’s, and/or First Impressions
  • Helping in only one or two of these areas
• Work with the volunteer leaders in the various ministry/ies
• To pray for the church and its other leaders
• To attend the Sunday morning service weekly during the internship
• To lead a small group or to help lead in the Children’s or Youth ministry
