About the job
About Hope Church
In June 2015, a family of 5 left Savannah, GA to plant Hope Church in Maine. Since then, Hope Church grew to an average of 120-140 pre-covid and our attendance is growing again. Hope’s growth has been fueled by a mission to reach more people for Jesus Christ. We keep things simple, focusing on making Sundays a great place where people can bring their unchurched friends. Sundays at Hope feature modern worship, practical and expository teaching, and a fun kid’s environment that meets during worship and teaches kids they can trust God, His Word, and that Jesus came to give them life and hope. Hope offers small groups that provide opportunity for connection and growth. Hope hosts three major annual outreach events: Christmas Eve Service, Kid’s Camp, and a Fall Festival. To help Hope transition to a new pastor, our Church Planting Pastor plans to continue to serve until Hope is able to call a new pastor.
Hope Church Purpose Statement
Hope exists to bring glory to God by making disciples through gospel-centered worship, community, service, and multiplication. We are about loving God, loving people, and leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
About the Lead Pastor
Hope has grown and flourished out of the view that God has called and sent us out to be missionaries to those still without Jesus. Hope’s Lead Pastor will serve as the lead missionary for Hope Church and will seek to lead the church on mission by teaching God’s Word, casting vision, leading in evangelism and outreach, modeling servant leadership, recruiting and developing leaders, assimilating and discipling people, shepherding and loving the church, and overseeing the organization and administration of the church.
The Lead Pastor, having repented of his sins, will follow Jesus as Lord of his life through a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. He will have sound doctrine and good judgment. He will believe in the authority, sufficiency, and truth of God’s Word (the Bible). He will be in agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000, the Hope Tenets of Faith, and the Hope Church Bylaws. He will meet the Biblical qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:2-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
The Lead Pastor will bring the message each Sunday morning and is responsible for organizing his own supply when absent (in cooperation with Hope’s Servant Lead Team). The Lead Pastor will be the leader of the church as provided by the Holy Scriptures. He will empower staff and volunteers to participate in the decision making processes that reflect the Lead Pastor’s heart and vision for the church.
