Hinsdale Covenant Church, a 300 member church in downtown Hinsdale, Illinois, 17 miles southwest of Chicago, is seeking our next Director of Youth Ministry. HCC is a growing, word-centered, multigenerational church with a 125 year history. Our youth programs have traditionally been one of the key elements of family involvement and faith formation and we are prayerfully looking for the next person to continue this partnership with God.

Responsibilities:
The Director of Youth Ministry shepherds HCC’s youth by leading our weekly gatherings for 9-12th grades (Hi-League) 7th-8th grades (Flipside) and overseeing 5-6th grades (Club 56).
This involves a weekly Bible teaching program.
The director also selects, plans and leads summer trips and on-site gatherings as well as managing youth participation in camps and retreats offered by the Central Conference and the Evangelical Covenant Church.
The director actively encourages youth participation in the wider life of the church through upfront participation in Sunday morning worship, some Confirmation teaching and connecting youth with opportunities in other ministries of the church.
The director is a proactive communicator with other church staff and parents, effectively cares for and counsels students, and effectively builds up a loyal volunteer and intern team with help from pastors and staff.
The director works closely with the Children's Ministry Director and Pastors to create a seamless continuum of shepherding from birth to graduation.

Qualifications:
As a member of the staff of Hinsdale Covenant Church, the director pursues maturity as a disciple of Jesus Christ so that their life and work increasingly reflects a growing love for God, God’s Word, God’s people, and God’s purposes in the world.
To do this, the director will:

• Profess and demonstrate faith in Jesus Christ.
• Pursue a vibrant relationship with the triune God through engagement with Scripture, prayer, and worship, both individually and in community.
• Develop self-leadership (growing in self-awareness, self-management, relational integrity, and resiliency).
• Embrace Scriptural standards for behavior and attitudes.
• Commit to the theological and ministerial standards of the Evangelical Covenant denomination so as to create teaching and discipleship continuity with the pastoral staff.

The director will also have:

• A Bachelor or Master’s degree in Bible, Theology, Christian Studies or Youth Ministry
• Love and enthusiasm for youth and youth culture and some experience shepherding youth
• Demonstrated the ability to respond warmly to, and work effectively with, people one on one and in groups, particularly youth and their families.
• Awareness of and excitement for the total church program and the individual’s share in that ministry and awareness of the role of parents.
• The ability to work well with a church staff and congregation located in a wealthy but spiritually needy area.
• Some worship leading ability is a plus
• Ability to coordinate group travel also a plus
