Position Description:
Highland Park Baptist Church is looking for a theologically grounded and highly relational High School Director / Pastor who has a heart for the spiritual growth of students and aims to expand and develop a dynamic high school student ministry.

Highland Park Baptist Church is an unapologetically Bible-based, metropolitan church located just North of Detroit in Southfield, MI. We are entirely about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, working toward growing disciples, worshiping God, and transforming our world through local and global outreach. Our desire is to provide a place where everyone can worship and grow (Matthew 28:18-20) as one family in Christ.
Co-located on HBPC's campus is Southfield Christian School. SCS, a ministry of HPBC, is a +600-student school educating young men and women in grades preschool-12. Students benefit from a challenging, college-preparatory education grounded on the principles of the Bible, Southfield Christian School seeks to prepare young people to live full and productive lives.

Who is the Ideal Candidate?
The ideal candidate is a disciple maker who is passionate about seeing students thrive in their knowledge of and relationship with Jesus Christ. Additionally, the candidate understands the importance of partnering with parents to reach students with the Gospel of Christ and raise them for His glory.
The HBPC High School Director will...
Be the primary Bible teacher in the High School Ministry on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings.
Recruit, train, and oversee the volunteer staff for the High School Ministry (with support from the Family Ministries Pastor).
Plan and oversee fun and engaging student activities and events
Consistently evaluate student needs (cultural challenges facing today's youth) in the church, the school, and the community and shape appropriate ministries to effectively reach and disciple them.
Proactively interact with youth outside the church walls by attending student-involved sporting events, school plays and/or concerts, etc.
Develop student leaders who, from time to time, participate in Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings (leading worship, teaching)
Work in tandem with Southfield Christian School leadership to ensure cross-ministry collaboration and effectiveness.
Oversee the High School Ministry budget under the supervision of the Family Ministries Pastor.
Perform other duties as requested by the Senior Pastor, Elder Board, and Family Ministries

A personal, growing walk with Jesus Christ
Proven ability to lead and effectively teach in a corporate, youth group setting.
Ability to recruit and develop volunteer leaders.
A passion to see the lives of young adults transformed and pointed towards Jesus.
Ability to have hard conversations in a gracious and clear manner.
What will put you ahead?
A gifted matball player (mashup of dodgeball and kickball...what could be better?)
A fun-loving/outgoing (and it shows)
A fan of Chick-fil-A, there's one located less than 2 miles from church.
