Youth Minister at Highland Church of Christ
About the job
Co-Student Minister at Highland Church of Christ (Abilene, TX)
The Highland Student Ministry is looking to hire a second, full-time Student Minister to partner with our existing Student minster, Ashley Stirman. HSM seeks to develop life-long disciples of Jesus Christ in partnership with families and adult volunteers. Highland does this by prioritizing young people and their families everywhere, nurturing students to leadership positions, and prioritizing empathetic and Christ-centered relationships. Many of HSM’s rhythms and organizational structures are already in place, however, HSM is looking for a person to continue building on HSM’s existing strengths and develop strong bonds with students, parents, and adult volunteers. Between these three subgroups, HSM has about three-hundred active participants and another full-time minister will greatly help in the relationship building necessary for this ministry to continue to grow and thrive.
The primary tasks of the Co-Student Minister are; building Christ-centered relationships with students, recruiting and training adult volunteers, developing Biblical curriculum for HSM, developing relationships with parents, planning and implementing enriching experiences (retreats, mission trips, bible studies, etc.), and supervising summer interns.
Both Student Ministers will report to the Discipleship Minister. The job is full-time salaried with benefits. Highland has a staff of roughly twenty other minsters and supports staff as well as an elder board. All full-time employees are expected to work well within a large system, submit to the leadership of elders and executive staff, and strive to be a team-player. The ability to adapt is always important in ministry but, the past two years have highlighted this an area of utmost importance as church’s like Highland listen to God’s leading during difficult times.
