Heber Springs FUMC is a conservative United Methodist Church located in the town of Heber Springs, AR, about an hour or so from Little Rock. The church is led by Senior Pastor Tommy Toombs who came on as the senior pastor about 12 years ago. The church currently has two Sunday morning services at 9:30a and 11:00a. The first service offers a modern style of worship in their new Worship Center, and the second service is a traditional worship style in their sanctuary. Pre-COVID attendance ran around 550 each Sunday for their main worship services. The church is offering in-person and online options for their Sunday morning experiences, with youth and kid’s ministries meeting in-person as well. The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Family Ministries Director to oversee the vision and direction of their family ministries. This person will oversee a full-time Youth Director, a full-time Children’s Director, a part-time Children’s Assistant, and a part-time Nursery Coordinator. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity to develop culture and grow the family ministries. Below are the requirements and responsibilities Froot Group has identified for this role:
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the family ministries at FUMC Heber Springs, birth – 12th grade.
Lead and equip the Youth Director, Children’s Director, and other Family Ministries staff that you would oversee.
Help lead and equip volunteers within the Family Ministries.
Equip families/parents to help them better disciple their children.
Cast vision for the ministry to ensure alignment between youth and children’s ministries.
Set goals for your team, oversee the budget, and drive communication between staff and parents.
Create an atmosphere that is fun and engaging that helps kids birth – 12th grade build a relationship with Jesus.
Be a resource to your team when needed and lead by example.
As a member of the Church Staff, work to develop healthy working relationships with FUMC Heber Spring’s staff team.
Attend weekly staff meetings and occasional retreats.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Visionary leader with enough administrative skill to organize people and implement their vision for the family ministry
Strong in communication verbal and written.
Personable, contagious humility and authenticity, with a heart to love, encourage, and
grow families spiritually in the church.
Agreement with the beliefs, mission, and values of FUMC Heber Springs.
Encourages servanthood over consumerism.
Desire for continuing education and personal development in family ministries and
Has a deep love for kids, students, and parents and seeing their spiritual life thrive.
Experience:Minimum 3 years ministry experience in some sort of family ministries capacity
(youth, children, or family ministries executive).
Education:Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred, but not required.
