Overview of Position:
Glencoe Union Church is a progressive, mainline Protestant church on the beautiful North Shore of Chicago.  GUC is seeking a person experienced in ministry who is eager to be a part of dynamic pastoral team in a creative and collaborative environment.  The Associate will work closely with our Senior Minister, Rev. Erin Raska—and with our staff and lay leadership—to lead the overall ministry of GUC and will have a pivotal role in helping to generate and launch new initiatives.  GUC is in a unique intra-denominational situation and is at an exciting time in its life as it continues to grow and flourish in its 150th year of ministry.  While the Associate position has particular areas of focus—such as Family Ministry, Youth and Children etc.—the Associate will share in the preaching task and the planning and leading of weekly worship. The Associate will also participate in the pastoral care ministry of the congregation and assist in various administrative tasks as needed.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Worship Leadership
·      Planning and leadership of the worship life of the congregation;
·      Preaching, at least once a month;
·      Performing weddings, funerals, interments, baptisms as needed

Pastoral Leadership
·      Lead the programs for and growth of families with children at GUC
•       Develop innovative family friendly events which nurture relationships and build community with and among parents of youth and children
•       Cultivate a ministry to youth that invites youth to explore and grow their faith while also building a supportive and engaging community;
•       Plan and lead Confirmation;
•       Manage and develop Children’s Ministries working closely alongside Sunday School staff:

·      Contribute to Adult Education offerings – suggesting topics and sourcing speakers;
·      Partner in pastoral care and visitation;
·      Work with pastoral team and lay leaders in developing new member initiatives, fellowship gatherings and other lay-led or special initiatives

Administrative Responsibilities:
·      Contribute to GUC’s weekly and monthly print and email communications;
·      Develop robust social/Internet presence as an extension of GUC’s communications and larger ministry;
·      Basic IT support as necessary for conducting online worship and other virtual programming
Training and Experience:
·      Completion of a Master of Divinity degree from accredited seminary;
·      Ordination, or ready to be ordained, within a Protestant denomination;
·      Five years of experience in ministry preferred, but not required.
