Job Description

 

Position Title: Associate Pastor of Discipleship

Reports To:    Lead Pastor

 

Purpose: The Associate pastor serves as a leader to: Communities and overall Discipleship for the church.

1.     Lead communities

a.     Lead a Community at FIVE39

b.     Invest in leaders. Schedule training regularly for leaders

c.     Create a pipeline for future FIVE39 Community leaders

d.     Create a strategy for groups to grow spiritually

e.     Create a pipeline to add new communities as the church grows

2.     Develop, strategize, and implement discipleship at FIVE39

3.     Oversee Missions at FIVE39

a.     Develop a plan and policy to add missionaries

b.     Work with the lead pastor on a yearly special mission offering

c.     Plan one trip a year for the body to go on.

4.     Oversee Baptisms, (classes/ interview)

5.     Oversee Child dedication offer twice a year.

6.     Oversee Pre-martial counseling offer twice a year

7.     Preach 4-6 times a year (or as needed)

 

Major Responsibilities:

The Associate pastor will

 

Manage Volunteers

?      Cultivate, lead, and manage a team of small group volunteers

?      Implement a schedule for current volunteers and communicate requests to the team

?      Train volunteers, preparing them for weekly duties and providing feedback as necessary

?      Lead each group if needing to split or cap the group size

 

Oversee Ministry Operations

?      Review issues with ministry operations as they arise and develop appropriate solutions

?      Plan Fall, Spring, and Summer communities

 

Coordinate with Lead Pastor

?      Work with lead pastor to align vision of Communities ministry with FIVE39’s mission

?      Communicate with lead pastor current ministry needs and successes

?      Partner within FIVE39 Church in spiritual growth of their families

 

Background Requirements:

?      A strong personal relationship with Christ and love for the local church

?      A love for the Word of God and seeing spiritual formation develop in the lives of others

 

Characteristics:

?      Responsible: Takes ownership over anything they commit to

?      Trainer: Educates leaders on how to lead a group in Bible study and build community within the church

?      Organizer: Examines current operations model; seeks to improve ministry organization

?      Servant: Willing to love and serve others in humility as they lead their team

 

Personal Qualifications:

?      A consistent personal spiritual life; obedience to God’s Word and the leading of the Spirit

?      Personal integrity in all areas of life

?      A high level of commitment to FIVE39 Church; this includes:

?      Regular attendance of church services and events

?      Church membership: if not currently a member, the individual is willing to become one

Hours:                        Full time (40 hours)
