Director of Special Needs Ministries at First Church of the Nazarene of Pasadena (PazNaz)

This position is the key role in leading the special needs ministry of First Church of the Nazarene of Pasadena. This position is responsible for implementing the overall ministry strategy and providing leadership to all special needs programs; special needs classrooms, inclusion placements, sports activities, parent support groups, family retreats, special events, etc., related to special needs ministries and ministering directly to families and children affected by disability through prayer, guidance, encouragement, and support.

Job responsibilities include (1) working directly with the Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor in developing vision and strategy for the future direction of the special needs ministry; (2) recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers for all core programs; (3) attending pastor/director staff meetings and events; (4) attending and participating in community meetings and events as they relate and are relevant to the disability community and PazNaz; (5) preparing, submitting, and adhering to an approved annual budget; (6) overseeing creative outreach opportunities to invite the un-churched in the disability community to participate in programs at PazNaz.

The workplace adheres to all COVID safety protocols mandated by the State of CA, LA County, and City of Pasadena, including the sanitizing of high-touch surfaces, mask-wearing, health screening, and physical distancing. Over 90% of employees are currently fully vaccinated, with that number improving every week.
