First Baptist of Anderson is looking for a senior pastor to be responsible as the lead minister for worship, outreach and pastoral care. The pastor will work with the church Advisory Council, various boards and staff in coordination and administration of the total ministry program of the church.

 

We do require that our pastor be ordained. While it is not a requirement to be ordained in the American Baptist Church denomination, this individual should be sympathetic toward, and cooperative with, the beliefs of the American Baptist Church.

 

This is a full-time position, with the pastor leading the Sunday morning worship service as well as our Wednesday night Bible study. While attendance took a hit during Covid, we have been slowly regaining attendance, and at present, our church averages a Sunday morning attendance of around 80-90. We're looking for someone who preaches the Word with the focus being an application in daily living, has strong leadership skills, the ability to minister intergenerationally, and a willingness to visit our sick and shut in members.

 

Our church worship style is basically traditional, but our music is a mix of traditional and modern, and our members are friendly and welcoming. Our property consists of about 17 acres and our church history traces back to 1890. The population of Anderson is around 55,000 and is only about 30 minutes from Indianapolis.
