Student ministry at FBC Pearland is part of a larger vision to reach Pearland and the world for the Glory of our King. The Student Minister will join a team of ministers who are passionate about loving people and honoring the Lord. The Student Minister will not work in isolation but will be part of a thriving team that loves each other and the Lord.
The Student Minister is responsible for overseeing the church's student ministry with help from lay leaders; ensuring a fun, safe, and effective environment where students can come to know the Lord and find Him worthy of their lives. The Student Minister will help recruit and train volunteers who will touch students’ lives with God's love, teach them God's Word, and provide fellowship with God's people. The ability to project a clear vision, have a genuine love for students, and engaging students and volunteers to come along side that vision is paramount.
Responsibilities for the Student Minister primarily fall into Four Categories: Engage, Equip, Invest, Prepare
Engage Students and Families
Bring the Gospel to families where they are. This happens through:
Intentionally designed events, camps, and ministry opportunities
Coordinated small group ministry and weekday gatherings (currently Wed. night)
Planning family ministry opportunities for families of Students
Equip Volunteers and leaders
Ensure every volunteer has what they need to make an impact for the Kingdom:
Give leadership to trainings, meetings, fellowships, and gatherings for volunteers
Provide safety checks, training, and tools to volunteers to ensure the best environment
Help volunteers take leadership and ownership in their areas of leadership.
Create an environment where leaders can serve and be discipled.
Invest Relationally
Ministry is about biblical relationships…it is vital to invest often and deeply into others:
Support students outside of the "church location" by attending games, plays, concerts, etc.
Be intentional about building community with students, parents, and volunteers outside of Sundays
Invest in and get to know the church family… even those outside of the Student Ministry
Develop discipleship opportunities with and for students and lay leaders.
Prepare Excellently
Organization and administration instill confidence and allow for flexibility:
Plan and prepare annual budgets for all student ministry activities (with the help of the Executive Pastor)
Build a ministry in such a way that the volunteers become the best recruiters.
Ensure all needed curriculum, supplies, and plans are identified and prepared.
Provide consistent communication with staff, families, and the church body.
Qualities: Passionate love for students, Good communicator, Energetic & Engaging Personality, Personal Integrity, Organizational skills, Team player & Team builder, Disciplined spiritual habits, Devoted Prayer life
