Position Summary:

The Pastor of Discipleship will focus on the growth and development of Expressions Church through the avenues of community, discipleship, and leadership development. This will be accomplished by the candidate overseeing the growth of leaders through discipleship initiatives, providing direction for the community group ministry that is in line with the church’s values, and utilizing their gifts/talents to contribute toward the overall vision and direction of Expressions Church.

Responsibilities

Serve in a regular weekend preaching rotation (once a month on average) providing biblically sound and engaging sermons to encourage and challenge the congregation
Assist lead pastor in developing sermon series calendar
Actively participate in weekly staff meetings, planning sessions, denominational conferences/trainings (as approved by lead pastor), and retreats to contribute to the overall direction and vision of the church
Assist with pastoral duties such as counseling, weddings, funerals, and other services as needed
Oversee the small group/community groups ministry by training and equipping group leaders, developing curriculum, and encouraging deeper community within the church
Lead discipleship initiatives to help members grow in their walk with Christ, focusing on one-on-one mentoring, new believer development, and spiritual formation
Identify and equip potential leaders within the church, providing coaching and training for effective ministry

Qualifications:

1. Be gifted in leadership and teaching.

2. Be called to pastoral ministry.

3. Be able to manage, motivate, shepherd, train, and encourage a team of leaders.

4. Be able to articulate the vision and philosophy of ministry.

5. Have required education: Minimum of a bachelors degree; Bible college or formal theological / seminary degree preferred.**

7. Be in full agreement with and able to articulate the Expressions Statement of faith

8. Complete requirements for membership at Expressions upon accepting the position.

Metrics of Success

• Members of the congregation are making tangible faith steps
• A noticeable portion of new attenders are going through the membership process
• Serve teams are gaining new members
• New leaders are being raised up from within the congregation
• Community groups are expanding/multiplying

Proposed Compensation

Time: Part-time, 30 hours per week

Pay: $31,00 - 36,000 per year
