Emmanuel Lutheran Church is a Christ-centered community of believers that seeks to encourage, strengthen and equip people to share the love of Jesus and help people to follow Him. We are part of the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ.

As we aim to expand our outreach, we're looking for a dynamic Outreach Pastor / Evangelist to spearhead this mission. In this role, you will nurture and guide people in the Walla Walla area toward faith and a deeper understanding of Jesus Christ.

Walla Walla is situated in the scenic southeast region of Washington State, approximately four hours from Seattle and Portland. With over 260 days of sunshine annually, it’s no surprise that Walla Walla is a sought-after destination. Our community features a mix of rural and urban lifestyles. With a historic downtown area, a vibrant arts scene, and a strong sense of community, this flourishing college town is affectionately known as the “town so nice they named it twice.”

For outdoor enthusiasts, Walla Walla has several parks and recreational areas to explore. The most popular is Pioneer Park, which features a beautiful rose garden, a duck pond, and several walking trails. There's also the Mill Creek Sports Complex, which has multiple sports fields and a playground for children.

The cost of living in Walla Walla is relatively affordable compared to other cities in Washington state. Housing costs are lower than the state average, and plenty of affordable dining and entertainment options are available.

Qualifications:

You have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ and a heart for evangelism.

You have proven experience in family and youth ministry, either as an employee or a volunteer leader, and demonstrate creativity and effectiveness in outreach and discipleship.

You are self-motivated, and can develop new programs and outreach strategies, and the perseverance needed for long-term success.

You have relational warmth. People find you approachable and easy to talk to. You clearly care for people and can speak comfortably and naturally in front of large and small groups.

You have strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with youth, parents, and volunteers.

You align theologically with Emmanuel Lutheran Church and committed to the Lutheran tradition of Word and Sacrament.

A bachelor’s degree in Theology, Biblical Studies, Youth Ministry, or a related field is preferred, and we are particularly open to students actively pursuing a seminary track.

Bi-lingual preferred.

Personal Responsibilities:

Champion outreach initiatives to connect with unchurched families, teens and young adults introducing them to the hope found in Jesus.

Design and lead impactful Bible studies and services that resonate with today’s generation, fostering spiritual growth.

Mentor and disciple people, guiding them in their faith journey.

Network with other youth leaders in the area to foster connections.

Cultivate strong relationships with parents, schools, and community organizations.

Oversee the planning and execution of youth events, retreats, and mission projects that promote community and spiritual development.

Reports to: Pastor.  Works with church council.

Time Commitment:

40 hours per week. Schedule is able to be flexed to help meet ministry schedule and connect with parents, students and young adults on their time schedule and turf.

Attend established worship service.
