East Whittier Presbyterian Church in Whittier, Los Angeles County, serves a diverse, welcoming community rooted in inclusivity and historic Quaker heritage. Founded in 1898, the church is known for its preschool, grief support that includes a Rainbow Bridge pet memorial, choir, and outreach, partnering with local organizations for community service.

The church’s preschool provides Christian-based, nonsectarian education for all children, supporting their holistic development. Flexible schedules and before/after school care are available for Ocean View Elementary students, with enrichment activities and staff trained to Title 22 standards. In addition, we offer weekly chapel services during the school year, and summer Vacation Bible School.

While most members are Caucasian, the church embraces its multicultural surroundings. EWPC is located in a stable, middle-class neighborhood with significant Hispanic representation. The church also hosts a Korean Presbyterian congregation.

The congregation seeks to build bridges, focusing on belonging and support. This is evident by the way we have welcomed and included people of differing developmental abilities, embracing their active participation in worship. Our facilities are accessible for people with physical challenges as well.

We seek a pastor with the skills and training to advance our congregation’s mission and vision. The ideal candidate will deliver biblically grounded sermons, connect with congregants of all ages and abilities, minister to active older adults, and offer compassionate pastoral care.
