About the job
COVID 19 Protocol at East Valley Church
Flow of people
We are asking everyone to enter through the double doors on the west side of the building. The doors will be propped open to minimize surface contact. We are preparing gift bags for all our guests! We will have a supply of masks for anyone who forgets to bring theirs. Masks will be required, even during singing. Extra masks will be available at church if you forget yours. Our worship team will lead from the platform, properly socially distanced. Hand sanitizer will be placed throughout the halls. Restrooms will be available. We ask guests to restrict occupancy to no more than two people at a time. Signs will be posted throughout the building as required by the state.
We will not be passing the offering plate. Two plates will be available at the doors for gifts as people leave the Sanctuary. For communion, we have purchased prepackaged units that contain a wafer and juice. These will be on a plate and picked up on the way into the Sanctuary. Leaders will assist anyone who needs help opening the elements. We will not be using any bulletins. All worship instructions and words will be projected onto the screen in the front.
We will mark off every other pew on alternate rows, ie. 1, 3, 5 on the outside, 2, 4, 6 on the inside. Alternate for the opposite side, 1, 3, 5 on the inside and 2, 4, 6 on the outside. The idea is that we sit on opposite ends of alternate rows. Signs demarking ‘closed’ rows will be placed on the pew seats. We will discourage handshakes, hugging and physical touch. We will not have a formal greeting time. To minimize contact with those concerned about exposure to the virus, please do not initiate any physical contact without asking for permission.
We ask people to not congregate in the building after the service. We will dismiss by rows. We will have bottled water on the lawn for those who would like to stay. We will not be serving any other food or beverages. Visiting is certainly permitted. Please practice social distancing.
Stay on Facebook Live
We will continue to use Facebook Live for those who prefer not to come out and risk exposure at this time. We plan to maintain an on-line option, even after the virus passes.
Disinfect between services
We will do some level of disinfecting between EVC and Life Church. We will need volunteers to assist with this. Please notify the office if you can assist.
We will keep a confidential list of those in attendance for a period of up to three weeks. These will only be used by the church in case of a reported positive test by someone in attendance. Anyone who tests positive is asked to please contact the church right away. This person’s identity will not be disclosed and we will contact everyone who was in church on that week.
We are asking everyone to notify your Consistory contact person (the one who has been calling you) or the church office of your intentions to attend. Since we are limited to 50 people, we want to insure those without virtual access will have first preference to attend. We anticipate being under the limit, but want to be as prepared as possible.
