POSITION: Lead Pastor
STATUS & FLSA: Full-time salary
The primary responsibilities of the Lead Pastor are preaching, outreach, and the mentoring/discipleship of key leaders and volunteers. He is to oversee and lead the worship services, guide attendees to worship our Lord, and edify them through preaching and sharing the Word. He will participate in outreach to the community.

The Lead Pastor works closely with the Executive Pastor, staff, and Elders in carrying out the strategy and vision of the church -- particularly through the Sunday morning worship services. He will shepherd the congregation through preaching the Word, equipping the saints, challenging, and guiding them as he oversees the overall spiritual health of the membership and the assimilation of guests.

• Oversee the strategy and overall experience of Sunday morning services.
• Preach at the Sunday worship services.
• Develop the sermon series/direction which fits the overall strategy and direction of the church and
recruit volunteers for key positions.
• Assist the Leadership team and staff with developing and carrying out the overall strategic direction of
the different ministries and church growth.
• Communicating the missional and varied activities of the church to promote involvement and
• Interact with key leadership and staff individuals as their shepherd and mentor.
• Follow up on Guest visitation and Assimilation process and communications on a timely basis.
• Provide CARE ministry to congregation members both in person when applicable and remotely
including visitations and coordinating follow-up help when needed.
• Contribute to the church’s social media and websites including ministry updates, events, and calendars on a weekly minimum basis.

Experience and Skills Required:
• A saving knowledge of Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and general agreement with Cornerstone’s statement
of faith.
• Understand, affirm, and support of Cornerstone Church’s Philosophy of Ministry, mission statement,
core values, and Vision Statements.
• Live a life reflective of a fully devoted follower of Christ and representative of Cornerstone Church.
• Skills necessary to efficiently and effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities including those
outlined in Titus 1:5-9, I Timothy 3:1-7, I Peter 5:1-4.
• A suitable temperament necessary for maintaining amiable relations with church staff, ministry leaders
and the Cornerstone Church community of believers and being warm, approachable, and hospitable.
• Use means to unite the greater Church and interact with other area church leaders/pastors on a
regular basis.
• Strong love for God’s people.
• Team player, cooperative, and able to receive criticism to improve processes and ministry.
• Exceptional communication skills; ability to effectively communicate and listen to others.
• Growing knowledge of volunteer and leadership development and encouragement.
• Desire to grow in the knowledge of the Bible and continuing in understanding the Lord.
• Ability to organize self and others.
• Ability to resolve conflict in a mature manner and own their part
• Ability to make decisions and problem-solve effectively with long-term and church interests in mind.
• Basic level of skill set to use computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint,
Excel, Publisher, and Outlook), Apple-based application and computing skills, and Google Software Suite and possibly ProPresenter.
• Commitment to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
• Basic administrative and organizational skills.
• Self-motivated.
• Strategic thinking skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience in nurturing diligently personal relationships within the church community through
personal encouragement, training, and fellowship.
• Adheres to and oversees the policies for confidential information.

The Lead Pastor should have a strong Biblical/theological background. He should possess at minimum a
bachelor’s degree with significant ministry experience (e.g. 5 years). A Master of Divinity degree,
Masters equivalent or a Doctorate is preferable.
Benefits: 2 weeks paid vacation.
Holidays & Vacation: In addition to the two weeks of paid vacation, there are 10 days of national paid holidays.
