Mission of City Life

The mission of City Life Church is inviting new friends to encounter God’s grace, connect with others, and serve in the City. We are a small multi-generational community with a passion for social justice and creation care. City Life strives to be a safe and encouraging space for individuals wrestling with faith, as well as mature believers on the discipleship journey. Our committed volunteers are deeply invested in loving and serving the church body. We gather on Sunday mornings in the Curtis Park neighborhood.

Operations Director Role Summary 

City Life Church is seeking a part-time Operations Director to collaborate on administrative tasks, community development, and children’s ministry with our Lead Pastor and Leadership Council. The church is in a season of growth as we find new ways to engage our community and develop/expand our existing ministries. The right person will be equipped to help us with the following:

Communications

  • Use Mailchimp and Canva to create weekly e-newsletter
  • Post sermon recordings as podcasts
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for Sunday morning, children’s ministry, and special events
  • Create content for social media
  • Network with local pastors, worship leaders, ministries, and nonprofits - sourcing guest speakers/musicians and identifying opportunities for collaboration and community service

Administrative

  • Work with pastor and worship leaders to compile and edit worship guides and print for Sunday morning services
  • Replenish hospitality supplies for the church storage cabinets as needed
  • Manage email inbox with professionalism and spiritual maturity
  • Maintain church directory
  • Collect church mail from P.O. Box bi-weekly
  • Keep children’s ministry storage supplies organized and in stock
  • Coordinate background checks / fingerprinting process and training (as needed) for new volunteers

Sunday School 

  • Arrive early enough to set up and welcome families and children
  • Prepare a mini program for kids on Sunday mornings that includes circle time/songs, teaching a Bible Lesson using children’s church curriculum, craft/coloring, monthly memory verse
  • Print color pages or prepare a simple craft
  • Offer a snack for children depending on venue, etc.
  • Teach / facilitate Sunday School in collaboration with volunteers 2-3x per month

Events

  • Collaborate with the Leadership Council, other staff, and volunteers to book event space, work with vendors, and coordinate special events
  • Identify opportunities to engage the local community when possible
  • Coordinate the annual church camping trip with help from other leaders and volunteers

Requirements

  • Administrative experience and strong writing skills
  • Comfort using (or learning to use) a variety of platforms (e.g., Google Drive, spreadsheets, Canva, social media, website maintenance, Mailchimp, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Sacramento and consistent transportation
  • Background check/fingerprints
  • Experience with children
  • CPR Certified preferred

Hours and Compensation
City Life currently needs ~20hrs/week, but the work schedule is flexible. The position is mostly remote, with some Zoom meetings, and in person on Sunday mornings.  The scale of pay begins at $22/hr.
