Lead Pastor at City Life Church Focused on Teaching / Discipleship / Outreach (.75 Part-Time or Bi-Vocational)

City Life Church is seeking a Part-Time or Bi-Vocational Teaching / Discipleship / Outreach Pastor to lead the church in its next season of ministry. The right person will be equipped to help us build on our 18-year history as a Christ-centered church, expanding our worship music team, discipleship programming, community service/outreach, and our capacity for church leadership. He or she would be committed to collaboration with the Church Leadership Council, City Life staff (Communications Director, Children’s Ministry Coordinator, and volunteer leaders), and the church body.

City Life Church is a small multi-generational community with a passion for social justice and creation care in the semi-urban setting of Sacramento, CA. City Life strives to be a safe and encouraging space for individuals wrestling with faith, as well as mature believers on the discipleship journey. Our committed volunteers are deeply invested in loving and serving the church body. We envision mirroring Sacramento’s multicultural demographics as we grow, serving and sharing God’s love with the community around us.

Areas of Responsibility

Worship Services: The Pastor will coordinate all Sunday services, develop and schedule musicians, and teach 2+ Sundays per month (with alternative service styles available to use the other Sundays, such as community liturgy, intergenerational style service, or guest speakers)
Discipleship: The Pastor will provide pastoral care and create pathways of discipleship in collaboration with the Leadership Council, working relationally and systemically to integrate newcomers and members into discipleship opportunities. Applicants must display a deep relationship with Christ and show a clear willingness to grow in the faith and be willing to disciple others to do the same.
Outreach: The Pastor will lead efforts to connect with the local Sacramento neighborhood and nonprofits we partner with, and will be prepared to collaborate on community service projects. He or she will find ways to attract a growing number of City Life attendees and members, representing the multigenerational and multicultural surrounding community. The pastor will help the church grow in our capacity to confidently witness to God’s love to our neighbors, co-workers, and families.
Salary Range
$5,000 / month stipend (0.75 FTE) including untaxed housing allowance, plus benefits

Education Requirements

We seek an ordained pastor, preferably with a Master's Degree. (If not ordained with the Christian Reformed Church, must be willing to complete that process.)
