Church Without Walls Berkeley (CWOW) is a cross-cultural faith community that follows Jesus, loving God, the Bible, our neighbor, and the world. We believe in living out our faith in community life, bringing justice to the poor and the afflicted, and sharing the good news of Christ by engaging in relational ministry with the people around us.
CWOW is seeking a Christian woman or man of faith, vision, and spiritual maturity to grow our children’s ministry. The Children’s Ministry Director plays an essential role in leading toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary school students from 18 months to 5th grade in our care into deeper relationships with Christ and cultivating their sense of belonging within our community. Partnering with parents, our Children’s Ministry endeavors to create a safe and intentional space to nurture spiritual curiosity and to lay down the foundations of our children’s spiritual formation.
Responsibilities:
Sunday Spiritual Formation
Research and create age-appropriate Sunday curriculum
Plan and implement the Sunday children’s ministry program
Identify spiritual milestones and set forth a spiritual formation journey including baby dedication/baptism, first communion and confirmation
Plan age-appropriate contents and events to celebrate the liturgical church calendar including Advent and Lent
Collaborate with pastor, worship leaders, and youth ministry director for devotional life development for children and youth
Recruit, train, mentor, and care for teachers and volunteers
Community Development
Plan and implement fellowship and service opportunities for kids, parents, teachers, and volunteers through both church events and personal meetings
Plan and implement outreach gatherings and programs to invite new families and kids
Host parenting seminars and parent support groups
Coordinate and undertake pastoral care for kids, families, teachers and volunteers in partnership with pastoral leadership
Plan and implement children’s programs at church retreats
Communication & Administration
Codify, enforce, and regularly review child safety and security guidelines in coordination with Youth Ministry Director
Comply with all federal and state mandated child abuse prevention training requirements and train parents, staff, and volunteer accordingly
Provide regular written ministry updates to parents
Meet regularly with pastor and youth ministry director for supervision and collaboration respectively
Organize and maintain all children’s ministry materials
Prepare and oversee the children’s ministry budget
Create a streamlined system to track attendance and Sunday check-in/check-out

Good verbal and written communication skills
Good organizational and leadership skills
5 plus years of prior children’s ministry experience or equivalent

Compensation $32,000 - $35,000
