Christian Layman Church is a non-denominational predominantly Asian-American church in the San Francisco East Bay Area.
We are seeking a forward-thinking Lead Pastor to oversee the ministry and development of an intergenerational church family whose mission is to make disciples who love God, love others, and serve the world. The Lead Pastor must have prior experience in pastoral ministry and/or church leadership, and must be a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ, demonstrating the character and lifestyle of a Christian leader.
The Lead Pastor will report directly to the Board of Directors.

You are humble and teachable, loving and welcoming all with Jesus’s mercy and love. You model God’s teaching by being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and doing what Jesus did.
A VISION CASTER You are a forward thinker who can look beyond what has always been done and cast a vision for the future of our church while maintaining our unique identity as a multi-generational Asian church. You encourage programs that support restorative justice and serving the underserved. You are a strong communicator with the ability to communicate a vision and inspire action.
A GIFTED TEACHER You are strongly rooted in God’s word and can deliver a compelling, engaging sermon from the pulpit that is strongly grounded in the Word and relatable to everyday life. You have the ability to connect with people in various life stages and, through your teaching, convict and inspire them to overcome complacency.
A COMMUNITY BUILDER You are a leader who is passionate about building a strong community within the church and are excited by the challenge of bridging the gap within a multi-generational congregation. You meet people where they are and embrace the uniqueness of both older and younger generations by addressing their individual needs while still bringing them together in a community of faith. You believe in healthy conflict resolution and have the skills to facilitate honest dialogue as a means of reconciliation.
A PEOPLE LEADER: You have a strong ability to recruit, build, and lead effective teams through clear communication and vision. You are a team-player with strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to manage through conflict with a thoughtful and honest approach. You understand and embrace our cultural heritage and history.
AN ORGANIZATIONAL LEADER You have a proven track record of leadership and team-building in a church or marketplace context. You are a fiscally responsible leader who can effectively manage the budget and ministry resources of our church.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
LEAD WORSHIP SERVICES
Provide executive leadership and oversight over all aspects of Sunday morning worship services. Teach God’s truth and equip people to understand, study and apply the Bible.
LEAD THE LEADERS
Attract, equip and mobilize people for staff and volunteer ministry, build effective and healthy teams, and serve as the point person for hiring and supervising staff members.
Foster a welcoming culture with clear and simple steps into life groups, ministry teams, and serving opportunities. Know, lead, feed and protect the flock, by investing in and engaging with church members and their families at a personal level.
Provide care and a system of support for individuals and groups.
Lead Pastor is expected to work full-time hours (40-50) per week on ministry related tasks. Regular church office hours will be maintained. Continuing education, sabbaticals, personal retreats and the like according to Pastoral guidelines and by the approval of the Board of Directors
