Director of Community Formation at Asbury Theological Seminary

Position Summary:
The Director of Community Formation provides collaborative leadership to build community and provide pastoral care and spiritual formation for the Wilmore-based Asbury Theological Seminary community through such means as supporting the initiatives of the Vice President of Formation, working collaboratively with faculty and staff and in leading the Community Formation team.

Essential Functions:
Supports the work of the Vice President of Formation, supporting the development of formation across all systems and campuses as well as the yearly formational themes.
Provides leadership, management, and administration of the Community Formation staff, Kalas Village Mentors, student chaplains, student workers, and others.
Provides pastoral care for students, families, and staff on the Wilmore campus, including crisis care.
Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to strengthen ministries of healing, prayer, and spiritual formation for students, families, and staff on the Wilmore campus.
Furnishes counseling referrals to Asbury Theological Seminary's free Counseling Clinic or to outside counselors on an as-needed basis. Referrals will include organizing outside counselors, financial sponsorships, and confidential records.
Provides leadership for growing and sustaining discipleship within the community across campus. This includes but is not limited to DNA groups, Women 's Formation, Men 's Formation, Couple's Formation, Children 's Formation , Healing Community, and transitioning initiatives for people arriving and departing the Asbury Theological Seminary community in Wilmore.
Collaborates well with the other Formation Teams (Chapel and Global Formation), as well as with others at and associated with Asbury Theological Seminary.

Supervision:
Supervises and trains the Community Formation full- and part-time staff (totaling 8 to 12 direct reports)
Financial Responsibilities
Works with the Community Formation budget with the oversight of the Vice President of Formation

Qualifications:
Demonstrates competency and ministry experience in leadership, pastoral care, and healing ministry with appropriate degrees/credentials
Official ordination credentials and 5-10 years of ministry experience preferred
Demonstrates leadership, management, and administrative gifts as well as a solid track record of collaboration in complex systems
Strong interpersonal and pastoral skills including empathic listening
Possesses teaching, communication, and training gifts
Significant cross-cultural experience and/or competency
