Our church currently meets exclusively online in all our ministries. We hope to offer in-person kids classes by summer 2021. We have a Medical and Health Response Team in place to think through all the safety procedures necessary to protect staff and congregants. They are following state guidelines and taking extra precautions to ensure everyone's safety.
Part-Time Kids Director (20 hours)
Overview: We are looking for a person who has a heart and mission to see kids grow in their spiritual journey with Jesus and who has a desire to mobilize volunteers in the church to take part in this mission. This person will work in partnership with the whole of Access and the family ministry, not as stand alone ministry.
Qualifications: Volunteer Engagement, Communication, Coordination, Execution, Administration.
Required: Bachelor’s Degree. 2 years volunteering in a children’s ministry.
The Access Kids Ministry runs by a set of values in keeping with ministries of the whole church. While we expect form and structure to change over time, we desire our values to shape our expression.
? We teach the narrative of Scripture and help children find their story within it.
? We are intentional about providing opportunities for children to learn in parallel with the entire church.
? We create an environment that fosters curiosity, wonder and engagement.
? We take a spiritual formation approach to our education ministry, both for kids and their families.
? We explore ways for children and their families to live missionally in our changing culture.
The Kids Director is a leader in our community and is a member of the staff team.
? Participate in staff meetings at least once a month. Co-lead the Aqua (kids) core team.
? Assist family pastor to oversee kids ministry volunteers and keep them aligned with the Access mission.
? Assist family pastor to help Access reach out to children and families in Houston.
The Kids Ministry includes but is not limited to the following areas of work.
? Curriculum: Prepare curriculum supplies and plan lessons for each of the classrooms.
? Space Design: Prepare preschool classrooms for monthly themes that go with the lesson including videos, props, and decor.
? Volunteers: Assist Family Pastor to recruit, set guidelines, train, and develop volunteers including sensitivity to special needs. Debrief with teachers and assistants to determine how to best support them as they care for kids.
? Teaching: Steps in to teach as needed or teach one of the kids’ classes.
? Communication: Keep kids ministry info current on our webpage and update Facebook page with announcements.
? Special Events: Assist in coordinating programming for Fall Festival, Christmas, Easter, and volunteer appreciation events. This may also include special kids performances.
? Organization: Maintain a safe and clean atmosphere for children and parents. Keep the supply closet stocked and purchase necessary supplies in each classroom.
? Hospitality: Set up a check-in system. Oversee check-in team to welcome families and help children to classrooms. Follow up with kids who have not attended in a while through a written note and email to family.
? Outreach: Attend/participate in children’s events to build bridges with community.
? Administration: Communicate with volunteers each week to help them prepare to teach and serve that following Sunday, keep new parent/visitor packets current and up to date, annual review of safety procedures of children’s ministry.
