Position Overview
Abyssinia Worship Center (formerly Abyssinia Christ Centered Ministries), founded by the late Bishop Iona E. Locke, is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor who will provide dynamic, Spirit-led leadership to continue our mission of worship, discipleship, and community impact. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader and committed to fostering spiritual growth, biblical teaching, and the holistic development of our intergenerational congregation.
Primary Responsibilities
Preaching & Teaching: Deliver biblically sound, dynamic, and anointed sermons that align with Apostolic doctrine and inspire spiritual growth. [conversion]
Spiritual Leadership: Lead with a commitment to prayer, fasting, and personal devotion, ensuring that all ministry efforts are Spirit-led and rooted in holiness.
Pastoral Care: Provide shepherding to the congregation through counseling, visitations, and mentorship, addressing the needs of youth, young adults, and seniors.
Discipleship & Formation: Oversee and strengthen Christian education, ensuring that new believers are taught foundational doctrine and mature believers continue to grow in their faith.
Administrative & Organizational Leadership: Manage church operations, provide staff oversight, and provide strategic planning for church growth.
Intergenerational Engagement: Foster a church culture that is inclusive of all generations, creating opportunities for youth, young adults, and elders to actively engage in worship and ministry.
Financial Stewardship: Maintain financial integrity by offering support of the finance department’s management of church resources, effective fundraising, and strategic expansion efforts.
Community Outreach & Evangelism: Lead and support local and global mission initiatives, strengthening the church’s presence and impact in its community and beyond.
Leadership Development: Mentor and train ministers, deacons, and church leaders to equip them for effective ministry and future leadership roles.
Qualifications
Ministerial Experience: At least 5-10+ years of pastoral or assistant pastoral experience with a proven track record of church leadership, discipleship, and growth.
Theological Alignment: Strong commitment to Pentecostal theology, including the necessity of repentance, water baptism in Jesus' name, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues (Acts 2:38).
Biblical & Doctrinal Soundness: Deep knowledge of Scripture, with the ability to teach and apply biblical principles in a practical and transformational way.
Leadership & Vision: Spirit-led, prayerful leader with a clear and compelling vision for the future of Abyssinia Worship Center.
Holiness & Integrity: Exemplary Christian lifestyle demonstrating holiness and integrity.
Education: Seminary or formal theological education is preferred but not required.
Technology Proficiency: Experience using digital and social media platforms for ministry outreach, communication, and engagement.
