Application instructions
Community Presbyterian Church (CPC)
Port Aransas, Texas
We recently were officially welcomed into ECO.
We are seeking a full-time Pastor.
Who We Are
Community Presbyterian Church’s calling is exemplified in its name “community”. The church has served the community of Port Aransas since its inception in the 1940’s. Port Aransas is the home to over three thousand residents plus many more seasonal visitors. Our full-time residents enjoy many amenities including great beaches, nationally recognized birding areas, restaurants, top-ranked school district, community swimming pool, and parks. Outdoor activities include swimming, surfing, bay and off-shore fishing, city promoted music events, and a true feeling of community that can only be found in a small city. As a vacation destination we have many seasonal visitors ranging from weekly stays during the spring and summer months to the many retirees who flock to our warm climate often staying for three or more months during the winter season.
As a community consisting of residents and visitors, CPC is made up of many faces from diverse backgrounds that contribute as a congregation who gather for worship, celebrate their common bond of love in Jesus Christ, and share that love in the community wherever they are involved.
The congregation consists of approximately 50 core memberships with as many Winter Texans (aka Snow Birds) from October to the end of March, and a large population of visitors/vacationers year-round. Our Fellowship Hall is newly built following hurricane damage in 2017 and serves for our sanctuary, office, and place for receptions, and general activities. New buildings which will be completed this summer are our Sanctuary, office building, and food pantry. We have one service per week on Sunday at 11 AM and offer adult Bible Study during the week. We have a small though vocal choir with choir director, assistant choir director, and pianist. We have a very dedicated part-time secretary.
The church is governed by a Session that consists of 6 Elders. The Session is actively involved in completing the rebuilding of our church campus, obtaining pastoral supply for our weekly service, handling financial and personnel activities, and supporting our on-site Helping Hands Food Pantry which is totally supported by community volunteers and community funding.
